What now has overnight delivery? Where is Amazon's new headquarters? Let’s get down to what happened in commerce and tech news in the last week. This post is curated to help tune-out some of that noise and turn it into information that matters.
WHAT'S GOING ON IN COMMERCE THIS WEEK?
The most delicious overnight delivery service?
Might be slightly biased, but finding out that Cinnabon announced their first online delivery service just in time for the holiday season made me a bit jealous of my U.S. counterparts. What is it? Basically, you can gift your friends and family different flavours and sizes of those delicious cinnamon rolls no matter where you are in the country. And it'll get to them by the next day. New favourite gift basket? Yes.
Amazon's Headquarters finally announced
Everyone was so excited to find out where Amazon would put their second headquarters. There were so many rumours and every city would say "Oh yeah, I heard that it's between our city and ____." Turns out, they were kind of right. Instead of being between two cities, Amazon decided to make their second headquarters into two headquarters instead, placing it in New York City and Arlington.
Will Uber Rewards Keep You as a Customer?
In order to combat their competitors (Lyft among others), Uber needed to find a way to keep their current customer base. They aren't always the least expensive and they don't always have discounts that people can use. So what could they do? By spending money, they can get discounts, upgrades, and more with this new system. Sounds cool, doesn't it? But will it keep people from checking other apps when looking to get a ride somewhere?
